This is a unique, circa early to mid-1900’s quirt dance rattle from the Northern Plains Native American Indians. The piece shows Indian tanned hide and red trade cloth blanket with glass trade pony beads in a linear pattern and cobalt and chalk white coloring. One end shows Indian tanned hide fringe, each holding a Rocky Mountain Elk Dew Claw rattle with drops of red trade cloth inside (total of six dew claws). The other end shows a wisp drop of horsehair. The piece is in good condition and measures 18.5”L with hair and drops.
