Stephan Clegg Rowan (1808 – 1890). Admiral in the United States Navy. Commanded the Asiatic Squadron. Stock certificate for 14 shares. 1877. Brown/Black. Engraved vignette of a steam locomotive at top center, portrait vignette of Frederick Billings at bottom. Issued to and signed on the stub by Rowan. The certificate is endorsed as executor of Stephen Clegg’s estate on verso by Hamilton Rowan, his son. Hamilton carried on a military career graduating from West Point reaching the rank of Major before his retirement. Punch and stamp cancelled. Extremely Fine.
