Northern European steel horseman's helmet, ca. 1650-80. 2930 grams, roughly 20" x 7" x 12". Five hand-forged parts (faceguard, neckguard, earguards [2] and helmet) held together by rivets and leather, with minor edge-splits in visor but otherwise fully intact, the metal aged but solid and impressively original. This design of helmet, offering what was known as "lobster tail" head protection, was typical of those used during the English Civil War of 1642-51. With certificate.
