North Carolina August 21, 1775 $4 Extremely Fine, Repaired. This note, from one of the most elusive issues of Colonial Currency, is the first example that Heritage-CAA has handled. The Friedberg catalog prices only the $1/4 from this issue, and refers to all the other denominations as very rare in all grades. This rare Colonial note was previously part of Stack's October 2006 sale, where it realized over $4900. At that time, a center split was reinforced with paper tape on the back. The note has had that tape removed, and the split properly dealt with. The note has a few minor edge splits and tiny pinholes, but it is well margined, boldly signed and faces-up beautifully. The Masonic symbol at the lower left is clean, sharp and with all its varied elements crystal clear. This is likely one of the nicest, if not the nicest example known, and it should certainly move far past its previous level.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
