This April 2, 1776 issue is one of the most fascinating in all of Colonial Currency. It's composed of denominations running from $1/16 to $20, with as many as eight different vignettes for several of the denominations. The low-denominated notes are virtually never seen. This $1/8 is vignetted with a bull, is the first we've handled and only the third we've seen. There are eight distinctly different vignettes for this denomination. A complete set of this issue is 56 notes and to our best knowledge, only two complete sets have ever been formed. Unfortunately, only 3/4 of this note is present, with those 3/4 grading fully Very Fine. The upper right quarter of the note has been replaced, apparently contemporarily, with an unrelated piece of Colonial paper that does not match the engraving but fools the eye as the lines are similarly spaced. A very rare and very inexpensive note. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder.
