North American Big Game 1939 Boone and Crockett
Offered in this lot is a first edition of “1939 North American Big Game” by the Boone and Crockett Club. "If Big Game hunting is to survive in this country, we must have game conservation." This quote from the book’s forward rings as true today as it did over 100 years ago when Boone and Crockett Club was founded. The Club’s involvement with measuring trophy animals dates back to 1895. At the Sportsmen’s Exhibition in New York’s Madison Square Garden, Theodore Roosevelt and other members first began scoring North American big game. In 1902, again with Theodore Roosevelt’s leadership, Boone and Crockett created a standard scoring procedure for North American big game and organized its official scoring committee, of which Theodore Roosevelt served as a member. This book covers the animal, how to hunt it, how to care for it, and the records to date for all of North America’s "big game" animals. The book is full of drawings and photographs of notable animals. The book is bound in red linen with gold embossed Caribou on the cover and is in good condition. The book measures 9 1/4" x 6 3/4" x 1 1/2".
