<B>Norman Edson Original Hand Tinted Orotone of Mount Rainier</B></I> signed "Norman Edson ©" in the lower left and in the original frame. Photo sight size is 10.5" x 13.5" and overall frame size is 12.5" x 15.5". Norman S. Edson (1876-1968), the son of painter Allan Edson, was not only a photographer but a painter, poet, and violinist as well. He spent much of his photographic career based in the Seattle area and is known for his colorful hand-painted images and orotones of Mount Rainier. It's difficult to imagine a finer representation of his work than this present lot. The orotone (goldtone) process gives it an amazing depth and the judicious use of color adds to the ethereal quality of this image.
