International Tennis Hall of Famer (1877-1968), a two-time Wimbledon champion and president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia. Christmas card from 1955, measuring 5.75 x 8 closed. Inside bears a pre-printed sentiment and a color 4.25 x 6 photo of an artist’s portrait of Brookes. Under the sentiment Brookes writes: “Painting by Wm Dargie presented to me by the LTAA when I returned in 1955 as Prest. Small paintings at the side is of the first Davis Cup held in Australia 1908. In foreground is Beals Wright Fred Alexander in far side Wilding and myself,” and signed under the portrait, “Norman E. Brookes 1955.” In fine condition, with some scattered light toning to top and bottom edge near hinge.
