This beautiful Noritake celery dish with 3 individual salt servers has the typical back stamp of Noritake in green, the letter "M" in a wreath and the words "Hand Painted" and below, NIPPON. This M mark in a wreath, standing for "Morimura", was introduced in 1911 and possible in use until 1921. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake back stamp for importing is 1911. The Morimura Brothers, Noritake?s founder, Baron Ichizaemon Morimura and his younger brother, Yutaka Morimura established in New York in 1878, was the first imported goods shop to import Japanese antiques and porcelain.
Exquisitely done, there are 2 blue birds sitting in a pink dogwood tree to the right of the dish with a blue bird in flight to the left set with gold band edging. In very good condition, one of the salt dishes does have an underside chip and it does show age wear on the gold edging, the celery dish measures 1 1/2 inches high, 12 1/2 inches long and 6 inches wide while the salt dish measures 1/2 inch high, 3 3/4 inches long and 2 3/8 inches wide. An addition to any Noritake Collection.
SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions please contact me and thank you for looking.
