This is a George V era Home Service pattern helmet of an officer in The Norfolk Regiment. The 4 paneled body consists of cork with a blue cloth covering. The plate has a large King's crown at the top with a silver Britannia holding an olive sprig in the center on a blue velvet background with the Order of the Garter around her on a gilt 8 point star with a laurel wreath around the garter and a silver banner marked "THE NORFOLK REGIMENT" on the wreath. There is a gilt spike on a four prong base at the top. Two Tudor rose ear bosses suspend the velvet backed gilt chin chain. The front and rear peaks are lined in green skived leather and there is a natural skived leather sweat band.

Condition: Very good, the cloth shows some minor wear with an indention in the top rear. The gilt components retain traces of the original finish with a slightly dull appearance overall. The chin chain has started to separate from the backing, has a few bent links and has been lengthened with similar links. The interior is slightly stained.
