Wonderful Nippon hatpin holder with violets. This piece is show in Joan Van Patten's book, Plate #1168, the 4th one from the left.

This hatpin holder is in very good condition. The moriage beads are completely intact. There is rubbing of the gold around the top and mouth (as shown in photo #3) and around the foot and there was once a design painted just above the gold band on the lower part of the hatpin. It has all but disappeared (shown in photo #2). In looking at the photo in Joan Van Patten's book, the one in that photo also looks as if this painted design is gone. There are no chips, nicks or hairlines.
