<B>Ninth Plate Ruby Ambrotype of a Curious Young Man (Krainik 423),</B></I> dated “<I>1862</B></I>”, twice in pencil behind the image, in which the subject’s shirt is intriguingly decorated with sewn bone or porcelain buttons arranged Indian-style across the front. Defying modern understanding, the sitter is wrapped in a long shawl or scarf and appears to be blind in one eye. Nestled in a thermoplastic case embossed on both sides with “The Scythe and Grain”, <I>Krainik 423</B></I>.
