This Niloak vase is a find! It is a substantial example of Niloak Mission Swirl production around 1932.

The "Mission Swirl" pattern results as the potters threw lumps of several colors of clay on the wheel. The colorful clays used were naturally occurring clays found in Arkansas. The body of the vase was made by mixing both yellow-brown, blue-gray, and off-white colored clays. The swirling of the clays gives each piece of Mission Swirl its unique design. This mixture is the main focus which inhabits the vase form.

This curio-style vase is in a baluster shape in a swirl pattern of light blue, reddish brown, and cream-colored Arkansas clays.

The vase is 3 1/2 inches high with a 1 1/2 ?inch base. It has a 2 1/4 inch opening. The vase is in perfect condition.

This vase is marked on the bottom with the ?NILOAK? impress mark. In addition, it has a gold foil label in the shape of a pot with ?Niloak Potteries, Benton, Arkansas? on the front. The label is nearly intact and in overall good condition.

This will make a great addition to a Niloak Pottery collection!
