Brilliant and versatile Croatian-born American inventor and engineer (1856–1943) whose discoveries revolutionized the understanding and practical applications of electricity and magnetism. Scarce TLS signed “N. Tesla,” one page, 8 x 10.5, May 13, 1896. Letter to Paul Dana of the New York Sun. In full: “Your note of yesterday has just reached me. Tuesday next would be more convenient for me, but if it must be Monday I shall try to modify my engagements accordingly. If Tuesday is suitable please let me know.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), light overall creases and toning. In 1896, shortly after the discovery of the X-ray itself, Tesla began studying X-ray imaging and made great scientific contributions to the field.
