Soviet premier (1894–1971). DS, in Russian, signed in blue pencil by Nikita Khrushchev as a member of the Soviet Military Council, one page both sides, 7.75 x 11.5, July 1943. Untranslated attestation promoting Guards (Elite Troops) Major Comrade Lubenets, Yakov Evtikhievich, head of the Reconnaissance Department of the 6th Guards’ Army, to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Co-signed by several other high-ranking Soviet officers including Nikolay Vatutin, commander of the Eastern Front troops during World War II. The promoted officer’s photo is affixed at the top right corner. Mild toning, wrinkling, missing top left corner, a few small holes, uneven left edge from removal from binding, and official pencil notations and stampings, otherwise very good condition. Scarce and unusual World War II document signed by the future Soviet leader.
