Nick Eggenhofer (1897-1985) "Tough Way Out", 26" x 20", oil on canvas, signed lower left. One of the most historically accurate painters of the American West with its Cowboys, Indians, wagons, mules and horses. Nick came from Gauting, Bavaria to the U.S. in 1913, making his living as a commercial artist illustrating hundreds of western books and magazines between the 1920s and 1940s. He moved to Cody, Wyoming in the 1960s where he painted his action packed paintings of the American West. Eggenhofer was both a member of the Cowboy Artists of America and the National Academy of Western Art. His works are in the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK, as well as other museums, corporate and private collections around the country.
