Special Report of the New
York State Survey on the Preservation of the
Scenery of Niagara Falls
and Fourth
Annual Report on the Triangulation of the
State
for the Year 1879.
James T.
Gardner, Director.
Albany, NY:
Charles Van Benthuysen & Sons, 1880

This report lead to the creation of the New
York State Park which preserved the natural
splendor of the great cataract. Visiting the
Falls in the rustic setting of this park really is
superior to the urban promenade of the
Canadian side. Frederick Law Olmsted was
one of its authors.

This is an important historical document and
a must-have for lovers of Niagara Falls and
American landscape architecture

96 pages bound in green cloth. Includes 5
folded maps (two in a pocket inside back
cover) 9 photographic plates and several
engravings, including the tri-fold shown here.)

Wear to the corners and edges of the cover
and some foxing. The book is intact and in
remarkably strong condition.
Tip-in sheet

Gardner, Director."
