A beautiful studio photo of a young Indian woman wearing a long dress of dark material with an elaborate beaded top, long braids, large disc earrings, and beaded belt. She is holding a canvas-type bag with an Indian design in her right hand. She does not have a left arm. The background is a painted pastoral scene backdrop. On the reverse of the photo is handwritten Nez Perce Tribe. Mounted on a hard backing, the photo measures 7 ½ x 9.” Handwritten on the back is Albert Moore and N.P.C. Hist. Soc. (Nez Perce County). We could find no information on Albert Moore as the photographer and presume he purchased the photo from the above historical society or that it came from their collection.
