Nez Perce Beaded Gauntlet Gloves 19th-20th Century
This is a wonderful set of beaded gauntlet gloves from the Nez Perce Native American Indians. The set dates to the late 19th to early 20th century and shows an Indian tanned hide construction with glass trade beadwork. The set is from the Ex-Collection of famed Hall of Fame Cowgirl, Gertrude Mazwell of Elk City, Idaho. The tops shows a beaded design along the gauntlet area with semi-transparent tube glass bead with faceted glass bead accent with floral beadwork along the glove area. The inside of the gloves shows an early calico trade clothe lining and the outer edge have long cut fringe, an iconic addition. The set shows good overall condition with some bead loss. Wonderful patina. Signs of use indicative of an early age along the palm area. Each glove is 13"L x 8.25"W. Will fit a medium man's hand and large/medium woman's hand.
