Nez Perce Beaded Flat Pipe Tobacco Bag 1920-1930's
This is a fine beaded flat bag used for pipe tobacco or as a medicine man bag from the Nez Perce Native American Indians. The bag dates to the early 20th century (1920-1930's) and shows an Indian tanned hide construction with wonderful faceted glass trade seed beadwork. The bag shows the round beaded medallion with two flaps along with the top with a scalloped edge and long cut hide fringe along the bottom edge. The inside of the bag has an early calico trade clothe lining. The piece is very well preserved showing little to no bead loss. Measures overall 12.5"L x 5.75"W.
