Newfoundland One Cent 1872H ICCS MS-66
One Cent 1872H ICCS MS-66 Red PQ+. This spectacular piece has a fully struck obverse and just a bit of the typical weakness on the reverse crown. It is superbly lustrous and has flawless surfaces that are full red. It is accompanied by an ICCS Executive Certificate, which accords it with Superb Eye Appeal, and says in part, “The surfaces are mark free and without carbon spotting, a truly unusual situation for Victorian copper”. It is tied with one other example as the highest graded by ICCS, and there are none higher by PCGS. It is quite likely the finest survivor. PLEASE NOTE: - Because of the virtual impossibility of assembling a set of this quality, the consignor has requested that an attempt be made to keep the set together. Accordingly, the five pieces will first be offered as individual lots, then their five hammer prices will be totalled and the bidding for the complete set will begin at the next increment. If any bid is then accepted for the complete set of five pieces, that bid supersedes and cancels all of the bids on the individual lots. From the Point Grey Collection.
