Artist is Newbern Taylor AKA Joshua Kydd. 10" by 11.5". Joshua was born and raised in Key West, Florida. He was homeschooled by his mother, a full-blooded Cherokee from the reservation in North Carolina. His father was born in Stuttgart, Germany and emigrated to California as a teenager with his family in 1939. At 13 Joshua and his family moved from Florida to La Jolla, California. In the 1960s and 1970s Joshua made his living as a poster artist, illustrating band posters for all of the now-famous music acts of the time who were playing in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, including Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. Later in life Joshua, who is completely self-taught as an artist, had a successful and diverse career as a commercial artist and illustrator working for such Fortune 500 companies as Ford Motor Company, IBM, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Disney, NBC, ABC, CNN, AT&T, Time-Life, and many more. He has also taught commercial art at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina and at Eastern New Mexico State University in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Joshua moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico in June of 2014. Since then he has produced dozens of band posters and other artwork for local businesses, as well as continuing to work for other clients around the world.
