1865. Newark, New Jersey. Black. Engraved vignette of a male portrait at top center, female figure at left. Originally chartered in 1804 as the Newark Banking and Insurance Company, the company proved to be an important organization in early New Jersey banking, serving as a model for the development of other banks throughout the state. The name was changed to Newark Banking Company on February 18, 1859 and again to National Banking Association on June 24, 1865. Printed on heavy card stock. One vertical fold at left. Fine.
