<B>New York, NY</B></I> - $50 1902 Plain Back Fr. 685a <B>The Bank of America National Association</B></I> Ch. # 13193<BR> This ultra-rare Friedberg number was unknown until its discovery in the 1980's, or about a decade later than its equally rare Friedberg 707a $100 counterpart, a specimen which is offered below. Just two examples have come to light in the two decades since its existence was confirmed, this piece and one other, a serial number 1 specimen which has never been offered at public sale. This note, in fact, has had only one previous offering to collectors, a 1994 sale in which it was obtained by Tom for the not insignificant cost of $4600. With its rarity having withstood the test of time, that figure now appears quite reasonable, and one which will easily be exceeded this evening. <B>Very Fine-Extremely Fine. </B></I><BR><I>From The Thomas M.
