1873, 1880 - Lot of 2: 1) New York Consolidated Mining Co. Incorporated 1872. Cert. #1182 issued 4 November 1873 to Knox & [illegible] Trustee for 20 shares. I/C. Signed by H.C. Kibbee, secretary and J.D. Fry, president. The mine was located in the Gold Hill District, Storey County. Davis notes that the New York Mine hosted a ball in its lower levels with elite Comstock players. The ball got too hot, however, and the party was moved to the hoisting works, where it continued until daybreak [Ref: Davis, The History of Nevada, 2009]. The Big Bonanza was discovered at the Con Virginia the year of this certificate. 2) Curtis Consolidated Mining Co. Incorporated in 1878. Cert. #766 issued 2 March 1880 to H.S. Stone, Trustee for 100 shares. Signed by H.S. Stone, secretary and president [illegible]. Nevada bullion production for 1878 peaked at $44,570,549 for the year. A year later, some Nevada mining districts began declining, but new discoveries were still being made. Deep mining began on the Comstock with the connection of the Sutro tunnel to area mining works [Ref: Davis, The History of Nevada, 2009]. - Maish Collection -61293
