New York Battery Military Fort, a 19th C. hand-colored print entitled North Battery, Foot of Hubert St, New York. By 2 famous artists, Robert W. Weir and James Smillie. This historic round military garrison, important during the Revolution and War of 1812 but no longer standing, is the original site of the present Fort Hamilton whose flag was raised in 1831. Print text (photo unable to show it) reads: Painted and Engraved for the New York Mirror, 1833. Printed by J. Neale. Painted scene is 8.75 in.W x 6H plus text below. In antique deep walnut frame with gold leaf lip, 12.5 in.H x 16.5W. Photos taken under glass, thus hazy but print is crisp and clear. Handsome addition for history buffs.
