<Our item number 109789><B>New Year&#39;s Poster in Yiddish: L&#39;Shanah Tovah Shipskaart.</B> A rare poster sent by newly-settled Jews in America to encourage their oppressed relatives in other countries to migrate to the land of the free. Printed in Yiddish and entitling the bearer of the certificate to a year and life of all Blesssings, with Tefilat Haderekh &#40;the travelers&#39; prayer&#41; and other relevant Hebrew quotations. Color illustrated on paper with American, Jewish, and nautical images, including the Statue of Liberty, a ship flying three flags, and a Star of David enclosing a shofar set in a life preserver, 11¾&#34; x 8¾&#34;, c. 1910. Accompanied by a &#34;check&#34; from the &#34;Bank of Heaven,&#34; paying 365 days of health, wealth and happiness, 3¼&#34; x 8½&#34;, illustrated with a ship passing under the Brooklyn Bridge and with Jewish symbols.
