The painting is watercolor on paper and has a wonderful French matt painted around the scene on the same paper. I believe it is Louisiana school or French Islands. This could be a French Quarter or market sells person. It has a history of being in New Orleans and come from a New Orleans uptown estate. It was also framed in New Orleans within the last 50 years the framers label on the back is Durel Harris, Ltd. New Orleans. The New Orleans framer is no longer in business. The light skin Free woman of color has a interesting portable charcoal stove suspended from her on a stay holding bread for the sausage, She also has on a colorful Tignon (head scarf) & shawl. The watercolor on paper is 16" 1/2 by 14" The new French matt is 19" 1/2 by 23" and the maple frame with black and gold gilt details is a little over a inch wide. I'm happy to send more photo's
