<B>New Bern, NC</B></I> - $5 1929 Ty. 1 <B>The First NB</B></I> Ch. # 13298<BR>Talk about short lived...this bank came and went within seven months of receiving its charter in early 1929. The bank issued Series 1929 examples only, with a miniscule 184 sheets printed in the $5 denomination only. Although four notes are listed in the census, the whereabouts of the other three are unknown, with no record of grade or prior appearances during the past six decades. In fact, this evening's offering represents the first appearance of any note from this bank at public sale.
