Lot of 4 including: 1) One late-prohibition era seltzer bottle, measures about 11.5 inches tall, with chrome top, by approximately 4 inches wide. Siphon tube intact. “Carson Brewing Co.” silk screened within a blue, 3-ring border. Script “Carson City” and plain “Nevada” silk screened below logo. Bottom bears no maker’s mark. Clear glass, no chips, little interior staining. This seltzer is considered rare, and may date from the late prohibition period. 2) One short beer can, measuring about 5.5" with cap by 2.5". The original label on the can is printed in blue, red, and gold “Since 1862/ Tahoe/ Beer/ Famous As The Lake/ Carson Brewing Company.” An additional panel of the label, on the side, is inscribed “This is the/ ‘Cap Sealed’/ Beer Can/ It brings TAHOE BEER/ to you with its fine flavor/ unimpaired—light cannot/ penetrate it. It visits no/ home but yours. It cools/ quickly and takes up little/ space. Open it like a bottle./ Drink from it if you wish./ When empty throw away./ No empties to return. No/ ‘extras’ or deposits./ Internal Revenue Tax Paid/ Permit Nev. U-1110/ Net Contents/ 12 Fluid Ounces/ Brewed and Packed by/ Carson Brewing/ Company/ Carson City, Nevada/ C. C. co. 32-I-A PAT. APPL’D FOR” in red lettering. The bottom bears no markings. The matching cap is printed “Famous/ Tahoe/ Beer/ As The Lake” and the top and bottom of the can are a rich copper color. This cone top beer can dates circa 1920-1948. 3) One tooled, crown top bottle measuring 11.5" by about 3". Original paper label is printed “Carson/ Natural Mineral Water/ Fine for the Table/ Delicious & Refreshing.” The bottom bears no maker’s mark. Amber glass, one small bubble. 4) One tooled, crown topped bottle measuring 11.5" by 3". Original paper label is printed “Tahoe/ Famous as the lake/ Pure Sparkling/ Ginger Ale” and the bottom bears no maker’s mark. The Carson Brewing Company was “certainly one of the first breweries in the State of Nevada, established in 1860 by John Wagner & Co. at about the same time the Pioneer Brewery was built in Carson City” and began bottling sodas in 1915 [Ref: Nevada History Through Glass, Vol 1, Fred Holabird, 2012, p. 319].
