Nevada Liquid refreshment: Johnstown Ale bottles, unopened Prohibition bottles, and 250 Sierra and R
An eclectic group to be sure. From ale bottles dug in Johnstown, Prohibition bottles, and a large group of Reno Brewery labels. 1) Three ale bottles dug in Johnstown, Nevada. Johnstown was a tent city on the Comstock for miners. Once these miners found the silver, this town was abandoned for Virginia City. 2) Two Prohibition bottles found in the basement of the Bill Graham house. Graham was co-owner of the Bank Club, close associate of George Wingfield, known acquaintance of Baby Face Nelson and the Chicago mob (Reno was called the Chicago of the West during Prohibition), and leading supplier of alcohol during this era. They are from the B. C. Distillery of Vancouver. This distillery was known for packaging and shipping alcohol down the Pacific Coast. These miniature bottles would have been destined for the privileged clientele of Graham. As he walked the floor he could quietly hand a bottle to his friends and high rollers in the Bank Club. 3) Over 100 Sierra Beer labels from the Reno Brewing Company. Over 100 Royal labels and 50 Royal neck labels.
