The Rome Power House, started on August 1, 1895 and completed within four months, was located about 1.5 miles above Purdon Crossing on the Yuba River in Nevada and Yuba Counties. This, along with other hydroelectric projects grew into the California Gas and Electric Co., which in turn was merged with the San Francisco Gas and Electric Co. to become Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG & E) in October, 1905. Information provided on reverse of photographs not able to be verified from information given.
