The Nevada Central Railroad was chartered 7 August 1879 and opened 24 February 1880 [Ref: Poor’s Manual of Railroads, 1899, p. 589]. The construction of the Nevada Central Railroad between Battle Mountain and Austin, Nevada was completed in 1880, and the company operated until 1938. Tall-Globe lantern, 10” tall, without bail, machine embossed “The Adams & Westlake Company Chicago” and “The “Adams”” on the ventilator lid. The lower portion of the lid is also machine embossed “Pat. Jun.8 & 29.86. Nov.30.86. Dec.18.88 Jun.18.89. Sept.24.89. Aug.16.92.” and hand-embossed “N.C.R.R.”. The clear glass tall-globe, 5 3/8” tall, unmarked and in very good condition, multiple bubbles throughout. The twist-in burner and pot are unmarked except for a small “K.L. Co.” embossing on the wick guard. Sturdy steel-slat frame. - Jacobitz Collection -59717
