Large hardstone idol in form of a squatting anthropo-zoomorphic figure with another zoomorphic figure riding on top of the head of the main figure. It dates to Neolithic period (circa 4500 BCE), Hong Shan culture of Northern China region. 2 perforations were drilled in a typical Neolithic conic fashion under the arms of both figures and underneath the forearms of the main figure. Height: 8.2" (21 cm.). Width: 3.1" (8 cm.). Estimated value: $20.000. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the renown author of collectors' textbook:" Jade, 5000, BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors".
