<td width="100%">
Archaic Chinese rock crystal carving dating to Hong Shan neolithic culture. While the neolithic jade carvings are relatively abundant on the collectors' market, the rock crystal carvings are extremely rare and not found even at world major museums. This is an authentic neolithic carving similar in carving to the jade statues of Hong Shan culture in Northern China. It represents a nude squatting woman. The large rock crystal carving has a perforation on apical portion where the woman's hair is undulating above the head. As tere are no records of the customs of this period, We assume that this large statue was used as a veneration idol, possible a fertility goddess. The natural rock crystal is remarkable clear of any inclusions and despite 6000 plus years has no damages. The rock crystal is transparent and has a greenish jade-like hue. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's collection, the author of the collectors' textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors" and the owner of Objets d'Art Uniques Internet store. Estimated value: $10.000.
