Neolithic period, Liang Zhu culture, (circa 3000 BCE) greenish-white jade plaque with superficial calcination. The plaque is decorated in bas relief with a central bovine type of a tiao tieh mask. 2 perforations allow the suspension of this plaque. Dimensions: 6.5" (16.5 cm.) length, 3.3" (8.5 cm.) width. Estimated value: $4500-$7000. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors' textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912 AD, Guide to collectors".
