Vintage matte-finish 8.25 x 10.25 Rice Studio portrait photo of General Miles in military uniform with his Medal of Honor, affixed to the original mount which is signed and inscribed below in fountain pen, "Hon. Charles S. Hamlin, with the compliments and best wishes, of Nelson A. Miles, Lieutenant General.” Framed by Doll & Richards of Boston to an overall size of 12.5 x 15.5. In fine condition, with a faint stain at the bottom edge.

Charles Sumner Hamlin was an American lawyer and politician (1861–1938) who served as the first chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1914 to 1916. He previously served as the United States assistant secretary of the treasury from 1893 to 1897, and again from 1913 until 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson nominated him as one of the original members of the Federal Reserve Board.
