Rare limited edition signed print, 11 x 7.25, entitled ‘First man on the Moon,’ by Paul Calle, #299/1000, depicting Armstrong setting foot on the moon, signed in the lower border in pencil, “Neil Armstrong,” and also signed in pencil by the artist, “Paul Calle.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 14 x 10.5. In fine condition. Among his many talents as an artist, Calle is a creator of postal stamp art. As such, he designed many US postage stamps for the United States Postal Service including several that are related to spaceflight. Calle was the creator of one of the most popular USPS stamps ever issued. The ‘First Man on the Moon’ stamp artistically recreates the moment that Neil Armstrong placed his foot onto the surface of the Moon for the first time. Although 1000 of these prints were produced, just a scant few are known to have been signed by Armstrong, making this a rare opportunity to acquire an actual portrait of Armstrong stepping foot onto the lunar surface.
