Armstrong, in his capacity as deputy associate administrator for aeronautics, writes Debbie Gaeng at Forest City Regional High School in Pennsylvania. In full: “Thank you for your letter in behalf of your school. I appreciate your kind words and extend best wishes to you and your fellow students for a most rewarding school term. Knowledge is fundamental to all human achievement and progress. It is both the key and the quest that advances mankind. The search for knowledge is what brought men to the moon; but it took knowledge already acquired to make it possible to get there.” The page has been covered with a clear plastic laminant partially removed at the lower left quarter and left side of the page. Mild staining and soiling, a tear at the bottom center edge, area of thin paper at the upper left corner, and curling of the page from the plastic covering, otherwise very good condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Superior content as the first man on the moon explains the importance of education.
