Menu from the Bellinzona restaurant in Cape Town, measuring 14.5 x 9.75 opened, signed in blue ballpoint, “Neil Armstrong, Apollo 11,” and also signed by his wife, “Jan Armstrong, Dec. 17, 1972.” Menu is also signed in ballpoint and felt tip by nine others, including Christiaan Barnard, who performed the first human-to-human heart transplant. In fine condition, with a light central horizontal fold, some light creasing along hinge, and a small spot of soiling to top left. Menu is housed in its original 8.5 x 12 holder. Armstrong and his wife were dining at this restaurant as the Apollo 17 mission, the last voyage to the moon’s surface, was returning to Earth. An uncommon pairing of Armstrong and his wife, as they seldom signed together, made even more desirable with Armstrong’s addition of “Apollo 11.”
