Group lot of items deriving from Neil Armstrong and his family’s attendance at the launch of the STS-1 mission at the Kennedy Space Center’s LC-39A on April 12, 1981, which is highlighted by a pair of 4 x 2.5 admission badges for the “First Launch of The Space Shuttle,” both stamped “A,” one of which is left blank and the other issued for “David S. Arnott / Armstrong, Neil.” Also included are two 10 x 8 NASA lithographs of the STS-1 crew and the Space Shuttle Orbiter Columbia, and a 1979 NASA booklet entitled “The Space Shuttle at Work.” In overall fine condition, with toning and a crack to one of the plastic badge covers, and a small gouge to the booklet front cover.

From the collection of David and Shearon (Trude) Arnott, the latter whose mother Carolyn, was the sister of Neil Armstrong’s first wife, Janet Shearon. The Arnotts lived in Orlando in 1981 and hosted Janet, Neil, and their two sons for the STS-1 launch. The Armstrongs, in turn, invited the Arnotts as their guests to the launch ceremony, which is why one of the badges bears Dave Arnott’s name.
