Neat Confederate Framed Oleograph. Produced in Milwaukee by an interesting full color printing proce
Neat Confederate Framed Oleograph. Produced in Milwaukee by an interesting full color printing process that allowed this brightly colored Civil War memorial to be reproduced with the surfaces and appearance of the original artwork. The piece depcts four 1864 CSA types, T64, T66, T67, and T68, that appear genuine under all but the closest scrutiny. The notes are surrounded by full color battle scenes and a Confederate flag adorning the shoreline grave of an unknown Confederate. The famous "It Passed" poem, supposedly originally written on the back of a CSA note by a soldier in 1865 shortly after Lee's surrender, appears in its entirety at the center. Nicely framed and matted, this momento measures 18" x 24" without the frame, and two inches more with it. The first that we have ever seen, in original condition save for a single unobtrusive fold and a few short edge tear that affect nothing. A fascinating item that should interest the collector of memorabilia from the War Between the States. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
