Near mint pair of cased percussion belt size pistols by Williams & Powell of Liverpool, England, circa 1840-1860. The pair measure 10-1/2" overall with 4-1/2" barrels of approximately .52 cal. smooth bore. Thebarrels retain nearly 100% of their tobacco brown styped finish; the locks, tangs and hammers show the majority of their case hardening just dulling slightly. The trigger guards show 50-60% blue, the ramrod pipesshow 90% bright original blue, the butt caps show 75%+ original case hardening. The stocks show a nice grain, with sharp checkering and are fine to near excellent. The pair are contained within their originalto-the-period green felt lined partition case. The top of the case shows original label reading "Williams & Powell, Successors to the late Patrick, Gunmaker to His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, 25 S. Castle Street (Late Pool Lane), Liverpool". The label in very good condition with slight staining and minor tatters.
