Near mint original and unsharpened Bowie knife with fancy and gold-gilted clip point blade and original scabbard by Wragg & Sons, Furnice Hill, Sheffield. The knife measures 12-3/8” overall with 8-1/16” blade showing original sharp false edge. The blasé is fancy etched with American eagle, patriotic slogans, “Home of the Brave”, “America: The Land of Freedom”, “Protected by Her Volunteers”, etc. in an exceptionally fancy and unusual deluxe style with 95% original light gold gilt and near perfect blade and its original polish. Just minor beginning age and spidering. Integral cast German silver crossguard. Horn scales show minor bites or losses. The scabbard is near mint showing embossed leathering veneer over cardboard with German silver tip and throat. The scenes on the scabbard portray a vaquero or American Southwest cowboy with longhorn steer and rider carrying a lance or prod with sombrero-style hat.
