Near New Special Order Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Sporting Rifle

This is an extraordinary example of a special order Winchester Model 1892 rifle manufactured in 1902. The rifle has a 24 inch round barrel with special order half magazine and shotgun buttplate. The barrel has a sporting style front sight with nickel silver blade and a sporting style buckhorn rear sight with serrated edges and screw adjustable center insert. The upper tang is factory drilled and tapped for a rear sight. The barrel, forearm cap receiver, and bolt are blue and the hammer, trigger and lever are color casehardened. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut with a low luster varnish finish. The stock has a checkered black hard rubber shotgun style buttplate with the "Winchester Repeating Arms" logo in a circle in the center. The top of the barrel is roll stamped "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884." ahead of the rear sight. The caliber designation "32 W.C.F." is roll stamped on the top of the barrel at the breech. The upper tang is roll stamped "MODEL 1892./-WINCHESTER-/PAT. OCT 14. 1884" and the serial number "235785" is roll stamped across the underside of the receiver.

Near new. The rifle retains more than 99% of the original bright blue and casehardened finish. Wear is limited to a small area of the upper tang where the blue finish has lifted. The loading gate has nearly all of the fire blue finish. The case colors on the hammer, trigger and lever are all vivid. The stock and forearm are near new with very minor handling and storage marks. The hard rubber buttplate is in the same near new condition as the other components. The markings are extremely crisp. This is an exceptional example of a special order Winchester Model 1892 rifle in nearly new condition that cannot be improved upon.
