Colt Model 1903 Pocket (Hammer) Automatic Pistol manufactured in 1925. The pistol has a high polish commercial blue finish with casehardened spur hammer. The barrel is polished bright. The black checkered hard rubber grips have "COLT" in a ribbon at the top. The Rampant Colt trademark is embossed in a circle at the center of the grip. The 7-shot magazine has a full blue finish and is marked: "CAL 38/COLT" on the bottom of the floor plate. The right side of the pistol slide is roll-stamped: "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines in front of the ejection port. The left slide of the slide is roll-stamped" PATENTED/APR.20,1897. SEPT.9.1902" in a two-line block followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO./HARTFORD,CT.U.S.A." in two lines. The Rampant Colt trademark is located on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The serial number, "45326" is on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard bow. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "1" assembler's mark above the Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark. The pistol is complete with the original purple cardboard carton. The pistol serial number, "45326" is written on the bottom of the box in pencil and red grease pencil. The end of the carton lid has a white label marked "POCKET MODEL". A blue label with white lettering on the end of the carton bottom is marked: "Colt Automatic Pistol/Rimless Smokeless/.38". A factory advertisement for Colt's revolvers, automatic pistols and automatic machineguns is glued to the inside of the lid and an ad for Colt pearl and ivory Medallion stocks. The carton is complete with: a paper sleeve that contains a twisted wire bore brush, some original packing paper and a facsimile of the instructions. Colt manufactured approximately 26000 Model1903 Pocket (Hammer) Pistols between 1903 and 1929. Examples in new condition with the original carton and accessories are quite rare.

Condition: The pistol is in near new condition and appears to be unfired. It retains 99% plus of the original high polish blue finish on the frame and slide with only a few very insignificant handling and storage marks. The hammer has all of the fiery case colors. The frame and slide markings are crisp. The grips are in near new condition. The magazine has nearly all of the original blue finish. The carton is in fine good condition with minor storage scratches and edge wear. The inside of the lid has some glue reinforcements and an old repair to one corner. The end labels have some age fading and edge war but are fully legible. The interior labels are very fine. This is an outstanding example of a Colt Model 1903 (Hammer) Pistol with matching serial numbered box and accessories.
