Nazi Sports Association Award
Nazi Sports Association Award. The Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesübungen (National Socialist League of the Reich for Physical Exercise, NSRL for short) was the organization that managed all sports associations and clubs in Nazi Germany and occupied Austria. Hitler wanted to promote physical fitness in Germany to inspire a sense of unity and to increase the morale of the German people. The NSRL would award prominent athletes with badges and other honors. After WWII began, sports declined as more and more people were drafted to fight and the NSRL organized sports and training for youth. This award was issued to S. C. Hochstadt-Rasp. in 1941. There is a hallmark at the bottom of the eagle, marble base has no cracks or chips, the NSRL eagle and swastika have some finish wear but no damage. Good condition. From the Michael Clifton collection. 7" x 5.5"
