This is an outstanding Pre-Columbian Nayarit culture polychrome painted bowl dating to circa 200 B.C. to 200 A.D. The bowl shows a burnished dark red ware pottery with polychrome painted decoration in a geometric design along the outside of the bowl along with a polychrome painted finish shown on the inside of the bowl with some loss to the paint. Overall, the piece is in very good condition being well preserved for its ancient age. Provenance: The piece is from a very prominent Billings, Montana American Indian beadwork and artifact collection. The pottery bowl measures 2 1/2" tall with a diameter of 7 1/2".
