Discovered in England, this unusual steel ship's lantern is of
German origin. It has a plaque that reads"VEB
Schiffslaternerwerk Ueckermunde". VEB means state-owned
enterprise, common form during post-WW-II-State German
Democratic Republic. VEB Schiffslaternenwerk Ueckermünde was
founded in 1948. The patent number is Nr 3415. It is similar in
design to those found on English fishing boats of the same
period. Probably a port lantern as the interior of the glass is red.
It was an oil burning lamp that can still be used as such. The
last photo shows it in the company of other lanterns from the
same ship.
