World War II memo from Lieutenant Commander Charles Strom of the USS Saranac, the ''Fightin' Sarah''. Dated 13 August 1945, memo reads in part: ''…I am being detached…to be hospitalized. This is a temporary detachment but there is a possibility that it may be a permanent detachment…'' The USS Saranac provided support to ships throughout World War II. Typed letter measures 8'' x 10.5''. Paper is significantly toned, and has severe chips and bites at the edges. The text is unaffected, and remains clear and readable. Good condition.
